A Piece of Cheesecake

  • Peachy Freezy Berry Breezy
In my humble opinion, a beautifully decorated cheesecake says "I Love You" in ways few other things can. ;O) The 9" cheesecake is perfect for your intimate moments or smaller functions, just friends and family..

Birthdays and Other Special Occasions

  • Decorated Cookies
You have found a baker with a wacky sense of humour and who relishes a creative idea. Here are some examples of pop cake art. (If your kids would love to have a hand in decorating their own birthday cake, contact me for more info! Kids at heart are welcome too!)

Under the Sea Wedding Cake!

I'm currently not taking cake orders. This cake was ordered long before I found out I was pregnant. :O) Just sharing this latest project for viewing. Thanks for viewing!!

Chee Hoa and Meredith met each other while doing the Marine Engineering Course in Singapore Poly. They wanted their wedding cake to reflect this special time of their lives with a boat of some sort on their wedding cake.

As such, their cake is based on a children’s Sunday school song which goes:

With Christ in the vessel, we can smile at the storm,

                                                As we go sailing home.

Yes, we all do face storms in our lives but with Jesus, Christians are assured of getting through the storms with His help and Guidance! :O)

But I didn't want to depict Jesus so, the boat in which the Bride and Groom topper was carried in was meant to represent Him. :O)

The unusual topper: boat and the Bride and Groom, was made by my partner in crime, Carol. It's Sculpey: a polymer clay that hardens when baked, so it lasts and lasts and serves as a keepsake for the couple years and years after their wedding.

As you can see, the top two tiers, the sea, were tilted cakes and the bottom tier was the sea bed, covered in "sand". (See the Video at the end of this post!)

The sea creatures was made of fondant by me and edible.
I had so much fun making them!

The Jelly Fish. And here you can see the waves of the sea, made of royal icing.

The easy peasy school of fish which kinda look like chicken drumlets or tiny footprints.

Ash fish crop

This is my son's contribution!

Fishies crop I love these two. They look like they are having a conversation.

My favorite has got to be the crabs! I love the eyes I put on the end of toothpicks. :)))

And the topper that made everyone go WOW!!

Handcrafted by Carol out of Sculpey. The figurines are dressed in the actual gown and suit that the couple wore on their big day!

What on Earth is this???

Picture 1298 I'm preparing some fondant for a wedding cake I'm doing for this saturday. These, believe it or not, are the beginnings of an underwater scene.

I'm wrapping the coloured fondant in clingwrap to prevent them from drying out before I can shape them into sea creatures and seaweed.

Quite excited about this upcoming cake... it's gonna be a fun one!

Did Somebody say "tiramisu"?

Img_9336Wish I had a better pic but this is the best I've got, given the fading sunlight...

It tasted heavenly! It called for many second helpings...

It was my first attempt and I learned everything from video clips on youtube. Real Italian men instructing you to add the MAS-car-PO-ne to the whipped egg yolk.  Bake with Passion!!!

I tell you Italians are smart. All that strenuous egg yolk whipping is deviously worked into the whole scheme of things of true tiramisu enjoyment- It's really exercise in advance for all the calories you load on later.. heheh...

But really, I'm not counting.

Img_9280This though, is a lovely picture of the sukiyaki beef kebabs we threw on  the barbee this evening. It was goooood.

awesome berry cheesecake!

berry cheesecake!, originally uploaded by apieceofcake_sg.

It's berry season! I found fresh strawberries, raspberries AND blackberries at a supermarket just the other day. Perfect for making a no-bake berry cheesecake! (Plus I threw in some canned sliced peaches for the pretty yellow.)

The berries are crushed and the lovely deep reds turn the cheesecake batter pinkish. So pretty!

The cake itself tasted somewhat like ice-cream and also like yoghurt! Must be because of the lovely sourish taste of the berries. Very refreshing!

Student's First Cheesecake

A teenager emails me and asks me if I would help teach him how to make a no bake cheese cake in time for his friend's birthday.

He needed some hand holding, really, from getting the right recipe to shopping for ingredients to creaming and whisking techniques. But since he was so eager to learn, I was willing to help (for a fee). :O)

He didn't have the time to go through the cake making process with me in a kitchen but I helped him all I could with just about everything else. I met him at Poon Huat and introduced him to all the stuff he needed and I walked through the steps of the recipe with him.

It was risky and we didn't know how it'd turn out in the end. (The photo is a spoiler I guess. :p )

Good Job! On your own too! You should be so proud of yourself. :O)

Seriously Cookies on a Stick.

Img_8826For your next themed party! Cookies on a Stick that can stand. In this case, it's a flower garden!

Totally fun as party food or party favours your guests can take home. PLUS it's also a decoration piece! ~Delicious Vanilla Sables cookies decorated with Royal Icing.

I dare say it could work really great for weddings that have a contemporary twist.

Cookies on A Stick!

In preparation for a party next week, my apprentices and I made cookies on a stick and decorated them!

Img_8548The vanilla sables cookies were delicious! They had a lovely buttery taste and they weren't rock hard like some sugar cookies are. I baked them with a lolly stick inserted in the middle. Couldn't help but sample some even before  decorating.... heehee

Img_8549I made a small batch of royal icing, coloured it and then my apprentices and I had fun decorating them! Img_8552

Tadah! Is that cool or what? What fun gifts they will make!   Img_8553

Stay tuned for next week's party selection! :O)

Peachy Freezy Berry Breezy

Img_7502 Meet my newest no-bake cheesecake! I call it the Peachy Freezy Berry Breezy cheesecake.

It's an instant hit! Everyone (young and old) loves it because it's so bright, colourful and fun looking, it's cold like an ice lolly, it's light and not too sweet, sourish from the strawberries... oh yes, and it doesn't burden you with guilt feelings coz it's chock full of HEALTHY FRUIT!!! ;O)

Mmmmmm....
