I'm currently not able to take cake orders but thank you for viewing! :O)
I was asked if I had the time to make a special cake for Ambassador Baptist church's special service to celebrate their going independent as a local church. Since this church is so dear to my heart, of course I said yes. (Not something I can do too frequently now with five kids, including a 4 mth old baby. :OP )
Since the theme verse was about a servant being faithful unto his Lord's coming, Isabella and I came up with the idea of doing a sheaf of wheat. The biblical symbol of the sheaf of wheat so easily carried other themes of the harvest and the work of the church.
The wheat was also "dressed up" to look like a gift from the servant for his Master, to show his love for him.
These were the fondant molded wheat heads. I really do work from scratch. Checked up the internet for what a wheat head actually looks like and just worked from there.
They took a really long time to produce! We (hubby and I) made about a hundred of these. It really held up the cake making schedule. :OP
The cake itself was a three tier chocolate mud cake. All time favorite all round. Always a crowd pleas-er.
For more thoughts about my cake-y experiences, do go over to my homeschooling blog! :O)
