Oh I know I am way late for this post but I was searching high and low for this video before Fathers' Day came but couldn't find it till today! So... better late than never!
For all the Dads out there, this song was sung by the dad of my kids last Fathers' Day as a "special" (what we call "special" is an offering in song at worship service) at church. Accompanied on the piano by moi. :O)
We used the kiddos as "props" for the special and had aforehand warned them to sit still. I think they did pretty well, except for no. 1's constant scratching and no. 2 playing with her skirt.
It's a song by the Wilds entitled "I've Just Got to be Successful", but it reminds us that we ought to remember what truly is a Christian's measure of "success" as a father:
I’ve Just Got to be Successful
I may never be as clever as the neighbour down the street
I may never be as wealthy as some men that I may meet
I may never have the glory that some other men have had
But my grace to be successful as my little fellow’s dad
There are certain dreams I cherish that I’d like to see come true
There are things that I’d accomplish before my working time is through
But the task my heart is set on is to guide my little lads
And my grace to be successful as my little fellow’s dad
I may never come to glory I may never gather gold
Men may count me as a failure when my business life is told
But if they who follow after will be godly I’ll be glad
‘Cause I’ll know I’ve been successful as my little fellow’s dad
It’s the one job that I dream of, it’s the task I think of most
For if I fail my little fellows, I’d have nothing else to boast
For the wealth and fame I gather, all my future would be sad
If I fail to be successful as my little fellow’s dad
The Wilds Music: We Will Serve the Lord
Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Amen?
Hi Suwei,
That was beautiful! And your kids did very well, sitting still too. My son is 16 months old, and he would not be able to sit on Daddy's lap like that (he would have run 2 laps around the room by the time the song ended).
Thanks for the clip! :)

Dear Sis Suwei,
This is my 3rd attempt trying to post you a comment.Pray that I'm able to get through you this time around.
Btw, thank the LORD for the beautiful song rendered by your kids' dad. Your cute "props" enhanced the beauty of a loving father towards his children, have indeed warmed my heart:-) It reminded us of our heavenly Father's love who has never forbidden His children to come unto Him for Jesus said," Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matt.19:14).
Thank you & family for sharing that special moment with us:0
God bless!

Thank God that I managed to get through you now. Phew! a sigh of relief finally. Well, I believe that this little "trial" has taught me to pray without ceasing whenever I do face any obstacles in my life & that includes training up our kids. Oops...got to slzzp..now, it's nearly dawn! Good nite or Good morning???

Aiyoh... Annie!!! Wouldn't you be surprised to know that I was awake at the same time that you were posting...(What on earth were you doing up at that hour?)
I was woken up at 2 am by no. 4, who still stirs and cries even though we've successfully weaned him... and I just couldn't fall back to sleep. I didn't turn on the com, though... I did tummy crunches on my bed instead. Hahaha... trying to loose some of my extra kilos. :OP
Oh yes, and as for the special, I do hope to be posting more christian music in time to come. :O)

Wondering why I was doing at that wee hour? Usually, I'll be on "sentry-go" every nite to make sure everything is in its proper place before I call for the nite, heehee!
As for more Christian music,am certainly looking forward to it:-)
