We bought for no. 3 a little plastic kangaroo figurine when we were in Perth. It's an upright standing kangaroo, 10 cm high, ears perked up and a tiny joey poking his head out. Anyway, since coming home, he's still very attached to it, bringing it everywhere he goes.
The other night, at bedtime, he asked me if he could leave his kangaroo on the computer table in my room. I told him no, papa doesn't like toys on his work table. So he asked me if he could put it on the window ledge instead. I said sure.
I was half asleep laterthat night when my dear husband wakes me up to tell me what a hair-raising fright he had when he was closing the window. From the corner of his eye, he thought he saw an enormous lizard, raised and standing on its hind legs in some psychopathic lizard-y kung fu stance!!
You can imagine his fright. We couldn't stop laughing after he'd gotten over the initial shock.
Happened to me before a couple of years back. With me, it was no. 1's plastic horse figurine, you know, from the farm animals set. A brownish black one. In the shower (for he was playing with his animals during bath time then.) From the corner of my eye (and no specs on, mind you) I thought it was one FAT lizard. I found my heart in my throat.
I think we've got too many lizards in the house... And we're (especially me) lizard phobic. reptilia-phobia. (Don't quote me on that one.) And of course, we've got toys rampant everywhere.
Sigh, now if you'll excuse me, I have to go clear the flippity tigger and squeaky rubber milk bottle off the com table...
