After one gruelling day at the ACE supervisor's training course, I remember why going "on course" is such a blight on the calendar of so many professionals. :OP Hahahaha... kidding.
This is a five day squeeze into 3 day 8.30 to 5.30 course. And, so far, day 1 was pretty intense. But the facilitators did try to regulate the activities so that is wasn't too taxing on us. We learned the training a student undergoing the ACE curriculum goes through by wearing their shoes... I did adult PACEs today! My kids were so excited to see mama's PACEs. :O) But the PACES I did covered the nitty gritty of running an ACE program to "the philosophy of educational reform". I have homework! But I think I want to Zzzzz...
Coupled with that, we got a real good dose of preaching (which was a good thing.) Our key text is also the memory verse:
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Some reflections for the day:
This training cohort numbered around 20, most coming from this region: Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc. They are educators of ACE schools back home and are here for training.
Guess what? I was the only active homeschooling mom around.
Which makes me think I really have much not to take for granted as blessings from the Lord.
Please, join me in thanksgiving:
If you have discovered homeschooling, thank God and do not take it for granted for not many know.
If you have decided to homeschool and your spouse is right there with you, thank God and do not take it for granted for not many couples share the vision.
If your dear children are willing participants in this homeschooling endeavour, thank God and do not take it for granted for there are many children and teenagers who do not want to give up their lifestyles and follow their parent's paths.
If you have already started homeschooling, thank God and do not take it for granted for not many have the courage to do what you are doing.
If you have a homeschool community with whom you can share your joys and tribulations, thank God and do not take it for granted for many are alone in this endeavour.
If you have a homeschool community in your church with whom your family can freely fellowship with, thank God and do not take it for granted for many do not have a church that understands what they are trying to do for the Lord.
Thank God and Thank Him again!
Blessings to you, dear reader.
