Revelation 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
We had been reading Revelation together for bible time recently, and we finally got to the last chapter. What a beautiful way to finish God's love story for Man! The Tempter is banished, Man's relationship with God is restored, no more sin and no more sorrow, ever to be near Him.
So I told the kids this joke I know about the heavenly Street of gold. (Interesting that the Bible mentions that Heaven only has ONE street?)
So the joke goes:
A rich man died and went to heaven very very sad that he could not take his earthly riches with him. St. Peter, at the gate, (again, not scriptural but this is a joke) said, "Ok, I'll bend the rules for you, just this once. You may go back to earth and bring your riches with you to heaven."
Soon, the rich man is seen huffing and puffing, hauling a big bag in, through the gates of Heaven. The residents of Heaven are all curious to see what's inside the bag. The rich man opens his bag and proudly shows off its contents: GOLD!
Someone exclaims, "Why'd he go and bring pavement for???"

Hahahaha... hope you liked that one. (I wish there was a like button for typepad blogs.)
Sooo, my children have to carry the joke further and ask me, Mama, why are you wearing pavement on your ears?
:p
I said, we're still on Earth and this isn't pavement. :)
One day, when we see Heaven's Glory.... what a day that will be!!!
