I was thinking about how my lovely children are always giving us cards and drawings... a show of all their love in the way they can and know how.
So I helped hubby (on behalf of the both of us) compose a card cum letter to each of our dear children telling them individually the special blessings that they each contribute to our lives and how blessed we are to have them as our son or daughter.
It was a really good exercise in thanks giving because it really makes me more aware how each child touches our lives with their unique personalities and talents. It makes life more full and round and complete. God is so good to me!
I thanked them severally for their music, their drawings, for their humour, for their loving each other, and each card ended with "Thank you for loving us." We shall not take for granted our child's love for us.
Each received a precious verse from the bible. Some examples being....:
1 Peter 2:2-3 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Proverbs 23:24-25 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
I shall endeavour to make this a yearly exercise. :D
