The Home Life has been really packed and rewarding. Busy but yet restful. Juggling between the physical up keeping of the house and body, as well as caring for the other aspects of growing young people into good, useful adults. That's how I can presently summarize our daily home life. :) lemme get into today then....
Waking at 7:15 to begin my personal bible reading which today consisted of about 15 chapters or so. (I've started a 90 day read through the Bible program, and I'm on my second round! Hurrah! I believe it has become a habit!! :D )
Prayer to my Heavenly Father. Took up the broom and got a whole dustpan full of stuff off the floor, while waking 3 of my sleepy heads at 8:10. We are actually supposed to be having breakfast at 8 after their own personal bible time.
Continued to sweep the floor, make goat's milk for the 2 yr old. We had ham n bread for brekkie. Hung out the laundry together with the children, proceeded with bible time where we talked this morning about circumcision. The boys went "ouchie".
We are currently reading in the Bible about Abraham. We talked about faith to trust God at His word. I've said before, I count it such a privilege to teach young people on a daily basis to know God and to love Him. Like I get to fill their minds about loving God before the world fills their minds about loving self.
Had a heart to heart talk with my dear no 1 (11 yrs) to hear his heart about things that he has encountered. I've come to really appreciate the importance of hearing the child's heart on matters, allowing them to open up the windows of their hearts to reveal their inner thoughts and then helping them to analyze the situation and guiding them in how they should handle the situation. It takes a healthy parent child relationship, cultivated carefully over the years to be able to do this. Those of us who do not have close relationships with our parents will understand how difficult it is to speak from the heart to our own parents!
Proverbs 23:26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Mid-morning, after I set them seat work, I find myself scrubbing the toilet because it NEEDED to be done. You know what I mean? ;) Our house is NOT showcase perfect, not guest ready (anyone wants to come must give me a day head start in cleaning and packing.)
Today was particularly busy because baby (I should call her toddler but it just doesn't have that certain ring to it. Toddler.) baby is one week into toilet training but today, she just decided not to tell me she needed to go pee and wet herself 5 times thoughout the day! urgh. I do pray tomorrow will be better.
Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
Yes, she does get a swat (not hard but painful enough) for doing that because I did tell her and she can answer me when I ask her, why did mama have to cane? She says mei mei sheeshee on floor. I ask her where she needs to go? She'll say toilet. And last week she was successfully going to the toilet! And we clap and cheer when she goes to the toilet! :) Don't know what happened today. Sigh. One of those things.
My mom has been so kind to be sending no. 2 for violin lessons. Today, even in the pouring rain.
In between, the kids decided to make a card using their new glitter glue, play rambunctious games, keep the laundry. After cooking dinner and bathing, the kids were playing outdoors. I picked up my Above Rubies magazine that my sis passed to me and was looking forward to a quite read. Then I thought to myself, no, I think I should be with the kids as well. So I brought my magazines out. I only managed to read one article.
I found no 1 teaching no 4 how to swaveboard, holding his hands and encouraging him. No 5, the toddler, was also saying good job! to her brother. No 1 said, meimei is very encouraging. :) No 2 (back from violin) and no 3 were meanwhile roller blading and this evening, they each took off one skate and linked arms and tried to skate around like that. Hilarious. Dear Papa was already back but napping, exhausted from the day at work. He joined us for dinner, listening to no 3 (7yrs)'s latest rhyming sentence "how long does it TAKE for the SNAKE CAKE to BAKE before it BREAKs?" He's our words guy. :) We thoroughly enjoy each other's talents and abilities! The more people in the family, the more to enjoy!
Psalms 128:1-4 <<A Song of degrees.>> Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.
So, that was a slice of today's episode of The Home Life, in the Ong Family Homeschool. I didn't mention about thirty other things....lol! God is so good to give us happy family times like these. I am thankful!
